Welcome

The purpose of this site is to provide documentation to others in order to help their family trees and to provide a foundation for sharing content on the individuals.

I started researching my family history back in 2010-2011. Throughout the years I have always dabbled with research, but in 2017 I took it to a new level after finding a box of old postcards dating back from 1900. In order to help me understand the letters and authors,  I found an app/platform worth organizing my content on. For the sake of this project, I use the FamilySearch iPhone app for pretty much everything. I will include FamilySearch ID numbers on individual’s profiles.

As I started using the app I found the amount of collaboration and data to be overwhelming.  One of my first experiences was accidentally clicking “view relationship” on a profile and having it go back to King Louis XIII. I’m the kind of person who wants to fact check everything so this was a real nuisance! I decided that I needed a clear scope and vision for my project. For this, I thought of researching 8 grandparents with a leave no one behind mentality. I visioned them like founding fathers in a textbook. Unlike other family trees that focus on one name or a line of descendants, I wanted every line to have the same level of investment.

After getting started on my project, I realized how popular DNA testing has become.  People are always talking about their European ancestry these days so I figured I could find similar conclusions by using my family tree. At this point, I decided to advance my 8 founding fathers into a resolution of 32 grandparents. I hope you enjoy my project and are able to learn something from it.
